Mets' Manuel wants Manny Ramirez
NY Mets' manager Jerry Manuel recently announced that he would love the chance to coach the Mets with Manny Ramirez in left. Hopefully the plug will extend up to the front office where Omar Minaya is still contemplating his options.
Now that the Mets have signed Freddy Garcia, the rotation is a bit better. Perhaps they could slide some of the money away from resigning Oliver Perez, and instead put together a two to three year deal chock full of incentives for Manny Ramirez. The Mets need a power hitting outfielder who can help protect the guys in the middle of the order, but what a drastic turn of events it would be to have the current guys in the middle of the lineup protecting one of the finest right handed hitters in the history of baseball?
Manny Ramirez and the Mets make sense, its time to get serious. Pick up the phone and call Scott Boras, offer him 2 years with a 3rd option, and get it done!
