Mets Lose, Which Ain't News
It's no longer a rumor that the Mets are terrible, it's a fact. After being shut-out by the minor league caliber Washington Nationals on Tuesday night, the New York Mets fell to 10 games back in the NL east, and tied the major lead league in games they were shut out in at nine. Nine freakin times the Mets have been shut out in 2009... and it's still July!
Even if the Mets rumor about Roy Halladay miraculously comes true, they are now so far behind it may not matter. Trading relief pitchers for Roy Halladay would be a sign that the Mets have given up on this season and are looking forward to building a team that can compete in 2010.
The real question is, how will Jose Reyes play if and when he returns this season? Will his hamstring be completely healed? will the time off make him hungry for success, prompting him to go on an all out bender? Or will he have succumbed to the days filled with TV and BBQ and return 15 pounds overweight and looking like he went to the Bartolo Colon school for staying in shape?
Either way, all I really want is the ability to actually root for a team who has a chance to win a few ball games.
