Mets Rumors: Not worth a Penny
Brad Penny, whose ERA has ballooned much like his waistline, is a trade target for many teams in the MLB. Its rumored that the Red Sox are interested in acquiring cash, and possibly infield depth in order for a team to acquire this 6'4" right handed starter.
The problem with Penny, is that he's terrible. He's given up two or more earned runs in 16 of his 18 starts this season. Penny's ERA is a fat 5.02, which is in line with his even fatter ERA while pitching for the Dodgers last season. LA Dodgers have a pitcher friendly park, having an ERA like Penny did in 2008 of 6.27 in 19 games started is embarassing.
The rumor that the Mets are after a starter, really isn't a rumor any more. But at the end of the day, rumor or not, the Mets don't need a washed up fat-ass who has thrown more than 6 innings 5 times total since 2008.
